Privacy Policy for MateAI
Effective Date: November 5, 2026
Last Updated: November 6, 2026
MateAI ("we", "our", or "the application") is a desktop companion application that allows users to connect their YouTube channel to local AI assistants (via Model Context Protocol / MCP) on their own computers.
1. Local-First Architecture & Data Custody
Zero-Server Architecture: MateAI does not operate central application servers or databases storing your credentials or private channel data. All API communications occur directly between your local computer and Google/YouTube APIs using official OAuth 2.0 protocols.
2. Google User Data Accessed and How It Is Used
MateAI requests access to your YouTube and Google account data strictly to provide user-directed features:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly: Used solely to view your channel details, playlists, and video statistics on your local machine so you can query performance and information using your local AI assistant.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/yt-analytics.readonly: Used to retrieve video retention curves and viewer traffic reports locally to assist in analyzing content performance.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl: Used exclusively to upload draft videos, update video metadata, set thumbnails, and manage video comments upon your explicit instruction.
3. Token & Data Storage
- Credentials & Tokens: OAuth refresh and access tokens stay on your device. The MateAI desktop app stores them in your operating system's native credential store (macOS Keychain). If you run the MCP server on its own (for example as a Claude Code plugin), it stores them in a file in its data folder that only your user account can read. Tokens are never transmitted to MateAI or any third party.
- Local Cache & Retention: Any temporary metadata or analytical reports generated locally are stored only on your local filesystem. In accordance with YouTube Developer Policies, cached API data is automatically invalidated or deleted within 30 calendar days.
4. Google API Limited Use Disclosure
MateAI's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
- We do not share, sell, or rent Google user data to any third party.
- We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements, including personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.
- We do not use Google user data to train generalized AI/ML models.
- Human individuals do not read your private Google data unless required for security investigations or with your explicit consent for technical support.
5. Revocation and Access Removal
You have full control over your credentials and permissions at all times:
- In-App Disconnect: You can click the "Disconnect" button inside MateAI at any time. This revokes the active OAuth token with Google's servers and purges the token from your operating system keychain.
- Google Security Settings: You can revoke MateAI's access at any time directly through Google's permissions page at: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
6. Early-Access Mailing List (Website)
This section covers only the early-access signup form on mateaistudio.com. It is separate from the MateAI app: no Google or YouTube data is involved, and the app does not send anything to this list.
- What we collect: the email address you enter, plus the details our email provider records to show that you agreed, such as when you signed up and when you confirmed.
- Why: only to tell you when MateAI early access opens and to send you updates about early access. We do not sell or share your email address, and we do not use it for advertising.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). After you sign up you receive a confirmation email; you are added to the list only after you confirm.
- Who processes it: the list is hosted by MailerLite Limited (Dublin, Ireland), which stores and sends the emails on our behalf. See MailerLite's privacy policy.
- How long we keep it: until you unsubscribe or we close the early-access list, whichever comes first.
- Your choices: every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at the address below to see, correct or delete your data, or to withdraw your consent. You have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in Austria, that is the Datenschutzbehörde.
7. Contact Us
MateAI is operated by Máté Góg, sole trader (Einzelunternehmen), 8412 Allerheiligen bei Wildon, Austria, who is responsible for the processing described in this policy. Full legal notice: Impressum.
