Try MateAI free, with the plugin for Claude or Antigravity

No coding needed. You'll copy and paste a few lines and click through some Google pages. It takes about 30 minutes, and you only do it once.

What the free plugin does

MateAI started as a free, open-source plugin for Claude and Google Antigravity, and it works today.

  • Uploads and schedules videos with cover, title and hashtags
  • Shows retention and swipe-away stats for each video
  • Edits titles and descriptions, and posts comments
  • Runs on your Mac or Windows PC and costs $0

Before you start

Which computer are you using? The steps below change to match.

  • A Mac (macOS 13 or newer)
  • Claude with a paid plan (Pro or Max; the free plan doesn't include Claude Code), or Google Antigravity. You pick one in step 3.
  • The Google account that owns your YouTube channel
  • About 30 minutes

You'll use Terminal, an app that comes with every Mac. You only paste into it: copy a line from this page with the Copy button, click in Terminal, press ⌘ V, then press Return.

  1. Step 1: Install Python

    About 3 minutes

Python is a free helper program the plugin needs.

    1. Go to python.org/downloads and click the yellow Download Python button.
    2. Open the downloaded file from your Downloads folder.
    3. Click Continue and Agree until you see Install, click it, and type your Mac password if asked.
    4. When it says the installation was successful, click Close.
  2. Step 2: Open Terminal

    About 1 minute

    1. Press ⌘ Space, type Terminal and press Return.
    2. A window with a blinking cursor opens. Keep it open for the next steps.
  3. Step 3: Choose and install your AI app

    About 3 minutes

Which app do you want to use MateAI in? The steps below change to match.

You'll install Claude Code, Anthropic's own app that runs Claude with plugins. Paste this into Terminal and press Return:

    curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash

It shows little while it downloads. When the line with your name and % comes back, it's done. Then quit Terminal (⌘ Q) and open it again, as in step 2.

  4. Step 4: Add the MateAI plugin

    About 2 minutes

Paste these one at a time, pressing Return after each:

    claude plugin marketplace add mategog/mateai-youtube-mcp
    claude plugin install yt-studio@mateai-youtube-mcp

The second one ends with a message that the plugin was installed.

  5. Step 5: Make your Google project

    About 15 minutes

This is the part MateAI Studio will do for you. Use the Google account that owns your channel the whole time. You don't need a credit card for any of it.

    a. Open Google Cloud

Go to console.cloud.google.com and sign in. If it asks, pick your country, accept the terms and click Agree and continue.

    b. Create a project

Click the project picker at the top of the page (it may say Select a project), then New project. Name it anything, for example My YouTube helper, and click Create. When it's ready, make sure its name shows at the top of the page; if not, select it there.

    c. Turn on the two YouTube services

Open each link and click Enable:

    d. Set up the sign-in screen

Open Google Auth Platform and click Get started. Then:

    1. App name: anything, like My YouTube helper. Support email: your email. Click Next.
    2. Audience: choose External. Click Next.
    3. Contact information: your email. Click Next.
    4. Tick that you agree to the policy, then click Create.

    e. Add yourself as a tester

Open the Audience page. Under Test users, click Add users, type the email of your YouTube account and click Save.

    f. Download your key file

Open Create client. For Application type choose Desktop app (not “Web application”). Any name is fine. Click Create, then Download JSON.

Leave the file in your Downloads folder. The plugin finds it there.

Don't share this file or send it to anyone. It belongs to your project.

  6. Step 6: Connect your channel

    About 5 minutes

    1. In Terminal, type claude and press Return.
    2. The first time, your browser opens so you can sign in to your Claude account. Follow it, then come back to Terminal. If it asks whether you trust this folder, choose Yes.
    3. Type /yt-setup and press Return. It finds your key file and opens Google's sign-in.
    4. Pick the account that owns your channel.
    5. Google says “Google hasn't verified this app”. That's expected: the “app” is the project you made in step 5. Click Advanced, then Go to … (unsafe).
    6. Tick every box and click Continue.
    7. Back in Terminal, wait for yt-setup: connected!

Already use the Code tab in the Claude desktop app? The plugin shows up there too, so you can type /yt-setup and chat there instead of in Terminal.

  7. Step 7: Try it

    About 1 minute

In Claude, just ask in plain words. For example:

    • How did my last five videos do?
    • Which of my Shorts lost viewers in the first two seconds?
    • Do a dry run of uploading short.mp4 as a private video with a title and hashtags.

Start with a dry run. It shows exactly what would happen without sending anything to YouTube.

Like the free plugin? Support it

The plugin is free and stays free. If it saves you time or a monthly subscription, these help me keep building it.

If something goes wrong

Terminal says “command not found: claude”
Paste this, press Return, then quit Terminal and open it again:
echo 'export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.zshrc
Nothing happens when I type /yt-setup
Your Claude Code is too old. Type /exit, then paste claude update, press Return and start claude again.
It says the file is a “web” client
In step 5f you picked the wrong type. Create a new client and choose Desktop app.
Google shows “Access blocked” or “403 access_denied”
Your email isn't a test user yet. Do step 5e again, then type /yt-setup again.
“Login did not finish”
The browser tab was closed too early, or a box wasn't ticked. Then type /yt-setup again and tick every box.
About a week later it asks me to log in again
That's normal for now. Google ends the sign-in after 7 days for projects in testing mode, so type /yt-setup again. MateAI Studio won't have this problem.
Something else went wrong
Open an issue on GitHub or email gog.mate@gmail.com with what you see on screen.

Removing it

Everything stays on your computer. To remove it, paste this into Terminal:

claude plugin uninstall yt-studio@mateai-youtube-mcp

Then remove its access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Rather skip step 5?

MateAI Studio is a Mac app that connects your channel with one Google sign-in, no developer project needed. Leave your email and I'll invite you when early access opens.
